Biography

Escape from Zoe and the Rorqual Trilogy (Booklets 016-018)

Claude Farrell first appears as one of the Drivers who escapes the destruction of Zoe alongside David terGorden, Asen-Ger, and other rebels aboard the courier ship TASCA. When the ship's transition to Space II goes awry and the Drivers are forced to launch lifeboats toward the mysterious planet Rorqual, Farrell shares a lifeboat with David. They crash-land and are rescued by the merchant vessel North Wind, captained by Orson Orson. This moment marks the beginning of a partnership that would endure across the entire saga.

On Rorqual, Farrell and David navigate a brutal feudal world where PSI Powers are blocked and survival depends on cunning and force of arms. In the port town of Hayvant, they are attacked by the Green Flyer Vasik and subsequently captured by Debussy, the ruthless captain of the Polaris. David rescues Farrell and Zandra van Heissig from Debussy's clutches, and the group escapes in Justin O'Broin's hot-air balloon, though Justin is killed by a crossbow bolt during the flight. In booklet 022, he accompanies David, Zandra van Heissig, and young Markham aboard the repaired TASCA as they launch from Rorqual and discover that the planet lies within Space II, with a Black Hole serving as a gateway back to normal space. Farrell is part of the team that helps the Terranauts intercept the courier ship OMEGA-32, extract intelligence from Queen Ganshe, and free imprisoned Drivers.

In booklet 024, during the audacious commando raid to steal Driver ships from Earth, Farrell participates in the infiltration of a Council base in the Cheviot Hills in Scotland.
