Voyage to World's End

David terGorden and the Terranauts are reeling from the loss of Yggdrasil's seed, stolen by Olgar Nordstrom, a Shadow agent of Valdec. They are stranded on Rorqual after the dimensional gate closes, preventing their return to normal space and hindering their ability to fulfill their contract with the Council. Asen-Ger and Narda arrive with Nayala del Drago and her dragon Sufnor, who have traveled through Space II from Adzharis. Layla Chalid and Marcel d'Guinne depart, choosing to remain on Rorqual.

Yggdrasil briefly contacts David, warning him about the dangers of Kaiser Force space travel and revealing the location of the Great Abyss, a place where the seas originate. Nayala, using her PSI abilities, confirms the location. The Terranauts decide to journey to the Great Abyss in hopes of finding a way off Rorqual. Nayala sets off on Sufnor to pursue Nordstrom and retrieve the seed.

The Terranauts reach a plain near the gas sea and encounter refugees fleeing the city of Peijing. They learn that the city is threatened by living islands that have risen from the sea. Despite the danger, they enter Peijing and find Captain Lostrillas, who tells them about the islands and the fate of ships that tried to leave the harbor. The Terranauts decide to take Lostrillas' ship, the Maryjane, and attempt to navigate through the islands. Using their combined PSI abilities, they manage to pass through the islands, which are revealed to be sentient beings.

Meanwhile, Nordstrom is captured by Northmen (Djerihias), descendants of a religious sect. He is forced to fight one of them, but manages to escape. He falls into a gas lake and is rescued by fishermen, who take him to Xalihat. Nayala tracks him down to Xalihat, retrieves the seed, and leaves him to the mercy of the locals.

The Maryjane encounters another ship, the Nordlicht, captained by Captain Chezang, who warns them about the Great Abyss. Chezang and his crew receive water from the Terranauts before a storm hits. Nayala rejoins the Terranauts with the seed. As they approach the Great Abyss, they encounter a ghost fleet of ships caught in a massive whirlpool. Nayala uses her PSI powers to summon a storm, allowing the Maryjane to break free from the whirlpool's pull. However, the ship is pulled into the Great Abyss, and the Terranauts plunge into the darkness.
