Rebel Starship
Raumschiff der Rebellen
Plot Summary
Following Myriam's prophecy, a galaxy-wide psionic message is sent by Llewellyn 709 declaring David terGorden as the "heir of power" and calling for aid against the Gray Guards. This message reaches various factions, including the Council of Lodge Masters on ZOE, who are wary of the implications. Asen-Ger, a prominent Lodge Master and leader of the Terranauts, decides to investigate, while Asi Caruga, a Shadow agent of the Gray Guards, is tasked by Max von Valdec to monitor Asen-Ger. Caruga engineers the murder of a Driver in Asen-Ger's lodge and then volunteers to replace him, infiltrating the Terranauts.
Meanwhile, David terGorden on SYRTA is hesitant to embrace his prophesied role, preferring to return to TERRA quietly. He addresses the assembled Drivers, urging them to help him break the Council's mistletoe monopoly rather than engage in open rebellion. The Lodge Masters, though cautious, agree to attend the upcoming Great Festival on TERRA. Queen Fay Gray of the FUGGER, under orders from Valdec, plans to capture David. She sends a team to board the GDANSK, where David is staying.
The Gray Guards' boarding party faces unexpected resistance, including a Driver-created illusion of a LISS-Saurian. David, using his PSI abilities, traps a team of Gray Guards in a cargo lock, but a malfunction causes the lock to open to space. He nearly dies but is saved by a surge of PSI energy from Asen-Ger's lodge. Asen-Ger arrives with the FENRISWOLF and rescues David.
David connects with Yggdrasil through La Strega del Drago and receives a warning about the Kaiser Force. Despite the danger, David insists on going to TERRA. Asen-Ger cannot take him due to being exposed as a Terranaut. David seeks passage on the FUGGER by surrendering himself to the Kaiser Corporation on SYRTA. Growan terGorden, David's father, sends Norwy van Dyne to retrieve his son. Norwy arrives to find David in Schnayder's custody. Norwy and Llewellyn storm the Kaiser Corporation branch, rescue David, and Norwy takes David to TERRA. Asen-Ger and Llewellyn plan to follow, but Asi Caruga sabotages the FENRISWOLF, preventing their departure.
