Servis Hinnersen Bolter is the official registered owner of the estate that originally belonged to Growan terGorden, General-Manager of the Biotroniks Corporation and father of David terGorden. A member of the Servis caste, Bolter's name appears on the property records for the terGorden estate near Edinburgh (and possibly a related property in Geneva). The estate houses the sentient psiotronic computer known as Bolter's Hausfreund.
Role in the Saga
When David terGorden arrives at the estate as a fugitive in Booklet 025, he discovers it is registered under Bolter's name. David assumes Bolter's identity, posing as "Hinnersen Bolter" when Helena Koraischowa (Chan de Nouille) invites him to a party. The Gray Guards are expecting the real Bolter, and Helena initiates a background check on the man claiming to be him -- eventually realizing something is wrong with his story about having recently arrived on Earth.
The real Servis Hinnersen Bolter does not appear as an active character in any of the booklets. He functions as a narrative device -- a name attached to the terGorden estate that enables David's disguise and gives the Hausfreund its designation.
